  • Place: London
  • Weather forecast: +28°C, sunny
  • Out there: cold and rain

Our photography skills were really put to the test today with the first rainy run this year. Fear not, with 3 photographers out there we still managed to snap a fair bit of you and have just started uploading the photos. We’ll go grab a cuppa tea and you can track the progress here.

The Heroes Run 2009 photos

  • Date:17/05/2009
  • Place:Brighton
  • Runners:super

After a pink race yesterday we have just covered probably the most colourful race yet – The Heroes Run 2009. It was sure fun to watch and snap the runners having fun, but  hey, it’s about time to start tagging the photos … and there’s still a bit of catching up to do  on the interwebs to refresh the names of all of those super heroes in our memory. Never thought there were so many of them. Like, this many:

...don't look back...you'll never believe what's there.

...don't look back...you'll never believe what's there.

The photos are being uploaded now and there’s quite a few of them so hold and watch this space, we’ll update this post once done. In the meantime you can track the progress here and search for your number here.

Update: all uploads are finally finished and runners (whose numbers we could read out) tagged. For those of you who didn’t want to ruin your looks with a bib – try entering the superhero name instead of the number if you can’t find yourself (e.g. superman, supergirl, bananaman, batman, batwoman, spiderman, spiderwoman, incredible, hulk and others…if you think we might have recognized what you were). Full(er) list of tags coming tomorrow.

Update 2: The List (more superheroes might be added after I’ve done reading a couple of lists).

Be a hero – add more tags by commenting the pictures on Flickr.

Race for Life London 5k 2009 photos

  • Date:16/05/2009
  • Place:Regents Park, London.
  • Runners:thousands.

After a fantastic weekend a week ago covering Dulwich 10k and Peckham 10k on Saturday as well as DoItForCharity 5k on Sunday we were back in Regents Park for the Race for Life Women’s 5k this windy Saturday.

Most of the races organized these days are raising money for charity and it wasn’t a surprise to see this one fundraising for Cancer Research. What did strike us though were the signs pinned on runners’ backs. The dedications on them were certainly moving and did not leave anyone indifferent…

Nun Run photos

Although not as many as at the London Marathon a week ago, but still got a few hundred snaps at the the Nuns Run this nice and sunny Sunday. Have a look at the best ones and you’ll immediately see that the photos are different from the weekend before. Here’s what we spotted:

London Marathon vs Nun Run

London Marathon:

  • The faster marathon runners are so concerned about their time, they don’t want to waste any energy smiling or waving, as if it would cost the place to Boston Marathon.
  • The slower ones are so tired they can’t even smile at mile 12.
  • With millions of people around, all shouting and cheering and looking for something special, even the real Superman would be left unnoticed.

Nun run runners:

  • Run for fun.
  • Even if they aren’t running, they start after seeing the camera.
  • Smile.
  • Ones who don’t smile still look hilarious.
  • The look on people’s faces is priceless – is if they would have just seen the whole monastery on the run.

Finally!

It took us a while to sort, tag and upload the thousands of snaps from the London marathon but it’s all done now – 2426 photos are online and waiting for you. With so many runners the lost & found department is still quite busy, we’ll have another look there soon and to do some guesswork to help you find yourself easier.

As always, the photos are free for your personal use, if you want a higher resolution photo just drop us a line, we’ll be glad to help.

Thanks everyone who blogged, twittered and commented our photos – you know you’re the best.
