42run is a photo search and community site for runners and amateur sports photographers. It’s based around a really simple idea: when runners enter local running events there is always a simple way for them to search for themselves in pictures taken at the event – their bib number. As long as that bib number is recorded by photographers taking pictures of them, any runner should be able to find their photos.
At the moment, we – that’s Lukas and Nigel, the founders of 42run – are taking most of the photos you’ll find here to get things started, but our goal is eventually to have hundreds of photographers using this site and using it as a way to get their photos into the hands of the runners they’ve taken pictures of.
We’re not professional photographers, and we’re not trying to compete with the ‘official’ photographers at races we cover. All the photos we take are completely free to download from Flickr once you’ve used this site to find them. We can’t guarantee to take photos of everyone, and our photos probably won’t be as good as the ones you might have to pay a tenner for – but hey, they’re free!
If you like what we’re trying to do here, please let us know. It will help us to turn 42run into a national phenomenon. And if you’re a photographer, and want to get involved, sign up now and let us know where you’re going to be taking photographs. It’s a great way for you to polish your sports photography skills (take it from us)!
